Zero emissions

So, electric cars are doomed to failure.

Strong words - but bear with me.

I have the greatest respect for the technology behind electrical vehicles, and think it is a fantastic move forward in limiting the depletion of the natural resources of the planet on which we huddle. But, there is a fatal flaw.

Power cables. Seriously. Looking at the posts outside my local council buildings, they hold a socket to which you attach your car. Now, bearing in mind the majority of mobile staff members around here can't remember their bloody laptop power supplies, how do we expect them to remember something like the power lead for the car?

They'll be rusting in the side streets, abandoned due to a lack of power cables which are lying forgotten at the back of a kitchen drawer. Unless what little trunk space remains is full of AA batteries.

That time again

Rant first.

Went out for a few beers and a curry last night. Good evening, fun had by all. Got home, effectively got a bollocking for not replying to the other half's texts quickly enough. Wait, what? Had I not responded at all, then fine, possible cause for concern (given recent rioting - excepting the fact that I'm nowhere near London, Manchester or Birmingham). I have limited patience for this brand of bullshit. I might as well just get an electronic tag around my ankle and have done with it, although I'm not taking responsibility for calling anyone "Big Sister".

On to other things...

I bought a cup of coffee this morning. Not your wax paper enshrouded blend of arabica polluted by some form of modified bovine lactation, but a simple cup of filter coffee in a styrofoam cup. From a tiny sandwich bar (as in, there's enough room for maybe two people tops inside this place, it's all kitchen and counter). I digress. How unusual. The cup was marked as "Ozone Friendly" and "NO CFC'S". Which amused me. This was the kicker in the 90's (as global warming is now), but I imagine anyone under the age of 25 would be hard pressed to tell you what CFC stands for. Or why it's printed on styrofoam cups.

Whoops, boss has just walked in. Back to work... see you in a couple of months, I guess.
